 Casa del Porticato

Borgo val di Taro (Pr), Emilia Romagna, Italia

Casa del Porticato:     english page.....

Our season ends november 15   and our summerseason starts april 1

The holiday house (approx. 150 m living area and suitable for 2-6 persons) is situated in the Valtaro (valley of the Taro river) area, Emilia Romagna province of Parma (north of Tuscany), about 4-5 miles from the town of Borgo val di Taro.

Casa del Porticato is a recently renovated house (2011)  in the quiet of the countryside of the Appenines and is part of a quiet smal "borgo" of 5 houses of which 2 of them are inhabited permanently. The others are weekend- and holiday homes.

Casa del Porticato, has an entrance with a marble stairway, a nicely decorated, large livingroom and fully equipped kitchen with dining area and an 8 person dining table, 3 double bedrooms, a large bathroom (toilet, bidet, washing basin, shower and bath with jetstream system): outside there is a garden and 2 terraces. Downstairs you'll find an extra toilet and laundry facilities (washer and dryer). 2 of the bedrooms have their own entrance and stairway. Downstairs under the house there is a cellar where the outdoor gardenfurniture and sunbeds are stalled. The house is centrally heated.

In front of the house there is a large square with 2 parkinglots (pebbles). There is also the large sun terrace situated (with a view over the coutryside and valley).

One important rule: No smoking indoors!

 Valtaro:

The Valtaro region comprises two valleys with the rivers Taro and Ceno running through them. The landscape is primarily rolling hills, fields and rivers. The climate is mild and the countryside offers a wealth of sporting activities: horse-riding, fishing, trekking, walking, cycling, kayaking, skiing and swimming.

Situated between Tuscany and Liguria, the valleys are within easy reach of the Tyrrhenian coast (The Cinqueterre, Lerici, Sestri, Massa and Viareggio) and the cities of Parma, Bologna, Florence and Milan and their respective airports.

The Valtaro and Valceno Valleys are just minutes from the A15 Motorway which runs from Parma to La Spezia on the Tyrrhenian coast. At Parma, this motorway then meets the A1 Autostrada del Sole which runs along the backbone of Italy from Milan to Naples, and at La Spezia the A12 along the Tyrrhenian coast from Genova southbound.

But what really sets this part of Italy apart from the rest is its gastronomic inheritance. The valleys in the Parma province are the home of the world famous Parma ham (prosciuto di Parma) and Parmigiano Reggiano cheeses. Borgotaro a "slow food city" is famous for the Borgotaro Porcini mushroom.

The wonderful Appennine castles at Compiano, Bardi, Varsi and Varano Melegrani confirm the cultural heritage of this region.

Borgo val di Taro or Borgotaro is the main town in the area.

The house is centrally situated between the city of Parma (55 miles) and the Cinqueterre and the coast/beach (60 miles). 15 minutes from highway (Parma-La Spezia) A15.

Province of Parma (Emilia Romagna) .....7 miles from the border of Tuscany.  1,5 hours by car from Pisa and Bologna, less than 2 hours from Lucca and almost 2,5 hours from Florence and Sienna.

Casa del Porticato is the perfect spot for a combinated holiday: you can choose between the quiet of the house and its surroundings and through its central location, you can plan interesting daytrips and visit the touristic highlits (Beach, Cinqueterre, Pisa, Tuscany, Carrara, Parma, Bologna etc.) nearby.  Google
